I, too, was a nervous wreck while counting the days to my first consultation with the surgeon. I just KNEW he would find something that would disqualify me. I agonized over every single question in the packet they had mailed me, and I even took 5 extra pages of information I compiled that they had not asked for. I arrived almost an hour early, and tried to sit up straight in the waiting room--I felt like I was at an job interview! Well, when it came right down to it, the consult was a breeze. It ends up that the consult is more for YOU than for the doc. It is opportunity for you to ask questions and air any concerns. If you have a BMI that is over 40, and your insurance company is not a problem, then things should be fine. My surgeon was very patient with me and all of my questions. When he walked me back to the reception area, I asked, "Is that it?" It had somehow felt too easy! So, Marcia, do your prep work--filling out the paperwork, etc., then try to relax as you imagine your new life to come. I wish you the very best as you take this next step in your journey.
