Congratulations on your upcoming surgery and your new lifetime journey on the losing side. Right now you are probably on a rollercoaster emotionally - excited, nervous, scared.... This is normal - don't let it freak you out. Take the time over the next few days and 'center' yourself mentally - focus your mind on other things and keep yourself physically busy too. You will find that your big day will be here in no time and you will be calm and ready for it. We will be here ready to welcome you over to the losing side and support you in your journey. Good luck and hope everything goes well for you. Sarah G LapRNY 6/22/04 295/262/150

Carol, sorry to hear about your surgery being pushed back. But look at it like this, remember how far you were out when you started. The time will pass by very quickly and then you will wonder where it all went. For future reference, the doors on the opposite side of the doctor's office are usually unlocked on the nights of the diet classes. I guess you won't have that problem next time since your class is in the morning. Congratulations on your surgery and I hope for all the best for you and your family. I will be one month post-op on Wednesday and I wake up every day greatful for Dr. Gersin and his staff of professionals. Again, congratulations.

Thank you Carol for the post. And best of luck on your upcoming surgery!!! I do not know if you are religious, but I will let you in on a secret. Give all of your cares and worries to God. Sounds easy I know, but trust me...it was the only thing that got me through my surgery. I went into surgery completely at ease. I would have been a complete wreck otherwise. As for eating, I am eating what is "allowed", but I am not eating anywhere NEAR the amount they want me to eat. I should be getting in over 100 grams of protein a day. When you figure the BEST protein shake only has 35 grams per CAN (12 oz, which you will find to be a LOT) and most meats only have 7 grams per serving, you can see my dilemma. But I will keep pushing on as best I can. I know of others that had the same problem and are now "normal" after a year post-op. Again, best of luck. I pray you have an uneventful surgery and recovery. God bless. PS - Since I am only a few weeks ahead of you, keep checking out my page. I will keep updating it as things develop. Maybe it will help you see what is to come (or help you avoid things for the better).

Carol, Congratulations on your surgery date - 8/4 - my baby sister's birthday. Days will fly by now that you know when you will be checking into the hospital. Feel free to email me as I'm not too far from you in Withamsville - (not quite so rural anymore) I see we like many of the same things (especially bungee jumping) Be good to yourself and take care. Have you attended the support group at Mercy Anderson on Friday nights? I've found them very helpful. If you haven't been to one you might think of coming some Friday when you are feeling up to it. I'll email you a schedule and I'll be praying for you on the 4th! Donna
