I hope everything goes as planned and that you have a speedy recovery. Some words of advice: Please remember to keep positive thoughts at all times. When in doubt – ASK! Keep records of everything, including photos (makes a great scrapbook that you can look back on when you reach goal) and please keep your journal updated because you never know whom you might be helping. The big day is fast approaching Tony! I know right now the days are dragging but next week it will go fast. The thing that helped me the most was having a positive atttude! Make sure you get out of bed as soon as you can and walk those halls and don't be afraid to push the morphine button before and after your walk. I had open RNY done on a Thursday afternoon and went home just after lunch on that Saturday. Felt like I was hit by a truck but it's much better to be home. The only trouble I had that first week was bad gas pains and was told that was normal and things were starting to work properly again. Dr. H prescribed something like Mylanta for gas and laying on my left side. It got better in a couple days. The head hunger was hard in the begining but you have to find things to replace the foods you'd normally eat that will satisfy you. For some strange reason tomato juice helped me but then I'm weird...lol! I have to honestly say that I hardly ever had any problems other than what I gave myself because I didn't follow the rules. I hope by me telling you my experience this can help you thru the begining. As of today I've lost 115 pounds and counting. Life is great and I feel so good. I can only wish the same for you. My thoughts and prayers are with you for a safe surgery and easy recovery. Hang tough! SuzeeQ
