Question:
Multiple plastic surgeon consultations... does insurance cover them?

I would like to interview several plastic surgeons for my tummy tuck. I know if the surgery is approved, the consult is covered, but what about the consults w/ surgeons I didn't use? Do you pay for this yourself? I have Aetna US Healthcare which covered my RNY 100%    — mom2jtx3 (posted on October 9, 2002)

There would have to be a medical reason for the insurance to cover the office visits. Even if you end up paying 2 or 3 charges out of your own pocket, I feel it's certainly worth it to make sure you have the best plastic surgeon you can find.
