I had surgery in August of 2002 and I started my period the day of my surgery and they didnt cancel me. You are going to start it most likely right after surgery anyway due to the shock to the body. So I wouldnt worry about it sweetie. Good Luck :0)

They won't cancel your surgery but to be honest you will feel uncomfortable. Make sure you bring your own sanitary napkins. The hospital gives you the ones that don't stick. Those are horrible!!!! Good Luck Sweetie!!!

No worries - I unfortunatly started mine the day of my surgery and aside from feeling a bit uncomfortable, all was fine. They gave me a pad to put in between my legs for surgery. What they did during surgery I have no idea. I think the shock of the surgery made it stop because I don't recall having it after. Hope that helps

The blood thinners they give you will bring on your period anyway. So bring plenty of underwear (in case the hospital doesn't have them ...like mine didn't). They should be able to supply the pads. Good Luck! Lisa open rny 4/26/02 -123lbs

I started mine the day before surgery. The surgical nurses reassured me by telling me they deal with it ALL THE TIME. No biggie. My suggestion is to double up on pads (they wouldn't let me use tampons) because the blood thinners really do their job!
