Question:
Will it be okay to continue to drink well water as a post op?

I have well water and I was wondering after I have my WLS do I need to switch to bottled water? My well water has nothing in it.    — wildbrat (posted on March 9, 2003)

Do you get it tested for contamination like bateria counts? If its OK then you should be fine. If not treat it so you couldnt run the risk of a infection. They have chlorine tabs you can drop in the well. Well water is nice and cold on hot summer days:)

Your local health department can check your well water with a sample if you're worried about it for some reason. My family lives on well water 24/7. To me the water that's treated in towns tastes horrid. Plus I'm extremely suspicious that it causes diarhea. Everytime I'm forced for some reason or another to drink treated water the entire next day I have the runs all day long. My sisters baby who also lives on well water also tends to do the same thing when they're away from home. So depending on how you deal with the change to chlorinated water you might not want to add chlorine tablets to your water. If you're worried about healing your pouch before going onto untreated well water why not buy some bottled water to get you through?

Hi, I am 16 mos post op and have been drinking our well water since day one. I can't stand the taste of treated water. I have had no problems what so ever. Good Luck!

I was not able to drink my tap water after surgery, it just burned my stomach - even when I filtered it. I had to switch to bottled water and I was fine.

We are having aCulligan Reverse Osmosis unit installed this week. I cannot drink any tap water since my surgery. I have been buying bottled water. Now I won't have to, I will be able to get that purified water right from my own kitchen! Sheryl... lap rny 12/17/02... 242/191/140
