Question:
5'9" 295 lbs- Anyone Else? How long to lose 100 lbs?
I know everyone is different, but I'd like to get an idea as to how long it may take me to lose the first 100 lbs.. I'm 5'9", and weigh 295 lbs., so if you had similar pre op stats, how long did it take you to lose 100 lbs.?? Thanks!! :o) — Cat S. (posted on March 30, 2003)

Hi Cat! I had the exact same stats- 5'9 and 295... While you are right,
everyone is different, I am 17 weeks out and have lost 78 lbs, I weighed
217 this mroning. Good luck to you!

I'm 5'10" and started out at 297. It took me 7 months to lose the
first 100 pounds. I have now lost a total of 137 pounds and am 19 months
post-op. I was at goal by 15 months.

I am 5'9 and started at 299. I am 8 months post op and have lost 112 pounds

I am 5'7 1/2" and started out at 277. I am 10 1/2 weeks out and 215.

I'm 5'8" and was 292lbs. I had surgery on 11/1/03, it took me about 4
1/2 months to reach the 100 mark.

Hi Cat, I started at 298lbs. and I'm 5'8". I hit the 100lb. loss mark
a week shy of my 6 month post-op anniversary. I am now nearing my 9 month
anniversary date and am down 120lbs. total :) As you can see from

Hi there, I'm 3 months post-op, and have loss 72lbs to date, 28lbs more.

Yes, everyone is different. My surgeon told me to expect to lose 100-120
pounds in 10 months to 1 year. I was very excited about that....to lose
100 pounds in one year !! WOW. I am 5'9 started at 310 and had lost the
100 pounds by my 6 month checkup. I am now 10 1/2 months and have slowed
down.....I have lost 135 pounds. I am very excited !! I am about 20
pounds away from my goal and my surgeon said "you are now on a level
playing field with the rest of the world who need to lose that last 10-20
pounds" LOL

I'm 5'7.5", and started at 285 (altho I ws up to 295 before the
surgery). At just over 3 mos. post-op, I now weight 227. I think it would
possible to lose around a hundred by the 6-month mark (or come close to
it). :)

Hi. I'm 5'7" and weighed 336.5 lbs on 2/18/2002, day of surgery. I
hit a 7 WEEK PLATEAU after only a few weeks. My doctors said I was
"mediocre"! I lost 100 pounds by 9/2002. As of today, I have
lost 136 pounds. Not so "mediocre" I don't believe. Hang in
there! It took well over 60 pounds lost before I could BEGIN to see a
slight difference. You're gonna be fine!!!

I started at 5'7, 269 pounds (similar to you). I had open RNY on 6/12/03
and have lost 104 pounds to date.
