Question:
How do you know if you have a staple disruption?

How will I know if I get a staple disruption? I am 18 months out and my weight is great but the volumes are getting much bigger! He only did 4 rows of staples at the time he did my surgery (now he does 8 rows). I am so scared the staples won't hold. Any advice. Donna    — Donna B. (posted on April 18, 2003)

Donna, I had a revision to repair my Staple LIne Disrupture on April 2 2003. I knew back in November that something was wrong when my steady weight loss came to a holt and I would occasionally vomit stomach acid( nasty stuff). I waited till my January appt with the Doctor to ask him why in the world I would be vomiting stomach acid if my stomach was stapled shut. He order an upper GI and I did indeed have a staple line disrupture. I am proud to say I am back to losing weight and have lost 15 since leaving the hospital on April 6th. I dont expect to have a rapid weight loss but at least I am losing! I have 35 till my goal weight(personal) and 43 till the doctors goal of 124.
