Question:
Resources for RNY research paper?

Hi friends, I am doing a research paper for my college biology class about the disease of obesity, its causes, symptoms and cures (specifically the surgical alternative of the gastric bypass, even though it is technically not a cure). Just wondering if anyone out there knows of any good websites or resources I could access for the more "technical" stuff about the RNY? Hugs, Kim S. Open RNY Nov. 4/02, (-147 lbs.)    — Kim S. Hi Kim, I too am a college student. I took a biology class and wanted to do my research on WLS but my POO-Head instructor said she would not accept that kind of controversy~BLAH to her :o) Anywho~ I found that doing a web search for resource information is the best way to find out about books and other PROVEN and creditable materials. Often, the web sites that end with .edu or .org are the most credible. Especially look for sites that have doctors that have published something. I sure hope this helps. I will take some time and look through the web to find you some sites too. Good luck :o)

Janelle has a lot of great links on her website. Take a look at this page: http://www.angelfire.com/crazy/featheredgoose/obesitylinks.html

You will get credible scientific information from federal government agency sources such as the National Institutes of Health--NIH (you'll want to read their Consensus Statement on Obesity), the National Institute for Digestive Disorders and Kidney Disease--NIDDK, the US Surgeon General, and the Shape Up America program. I don't have specific website addresses for them handy, but you can find them by putting the agency name into any Internet search engine.
