Question:
How much does your wt loss slow after 12 months post op?

I know that your weight loss slows down towards 12 months post op but how much? Will it slow down to a pound a month or is it more like 4 or 5 lbs a month? For the post six months I have lost approximately 4 lbs a month. I a really scared to see it slow down even more. I am 12 months post op and down 88 lbs. I have 20 lbs more to get to my surgeon's goal. I'm not sure if I will make it.    — THE NEW M. (posted on October 24, 2003)

It seems that the closer to goal you get, the more it slows. There is no magic answer on how much. We are all different. I will say that your window of opportunity is still there for another 6 months or so and with a little more effort in exercising, eating right, following the pouch rules, no reason why you should not get there.

I have 30 pounds to lose and I'm 18 month post op. These last 30 pounds are sticking to be like glue. The weight loss slowed down to about 5 pounds a month after about 13 or 14 months post op. I'm now exercising a lot and hoping I can get ride of the last 30 pounds. One thing to remember is that if you have extra skin then that's weight that isn't going anywhere. My plastic surgeon said that he is expecting to remove about 12 pounds of skin from me. So really, I only have to lose about 20 more pounds of fat. But like I said, it takes some effort. Good Luck.
