Question:
help i gained 35 lbs back

i will 2 yrs out 4/19 i started at 345 went to 211 and starting weight back.ican almost eat normal again..any suggestions..thanx Huggy    — HUGGY (posted on February 29, 2004)

I would go to 100 oz of water a day, and 5 hours a week of exercise. Unless you are eating more than 2000 cals a day, I wouldn't change eating.

Congrats on your loss! Have you had your mechanics checked to be sure your surgery is still intact?

You have had a great weight loss. I have read on here that a lot of people that gained weight back simply went back to the basics of the program. Protein first. or like starting the program brand new with liquids full liquids, pureed, soft then regular food and quickly took the weight back off.

First, you're not giving anyone much to go on, but that being said, here's a pretty "blanket" answer: <br><br> I would recommend starting with getting a "resting metabolic rate" measurement done. If you live near a clinic of any size, they should be able to do this for you - one of the machines goes by the name "Med-Gem". It can figure out how many calories your body is burning at rest, and how many you need to take in just to maintain your current weight. Then you can go from there to find out what you need to cut back to start losing again. <br><br> Since you said you can eat ANYTHING, I am assuming that means you will eat anything. Does that mean you have kind of lost the "bariatric eating mentality" of staying away from sugar and fat, and really concentrating on protein and water? Because if that is the case, it might be best to work on finding a standard diet program you can live with, since the "bariatric eating mentality" might not have worked for you. <br><br>I don't think you should right yourself off as not being a bariatric patient anymore, but sometimes people who don't dump eat poorly anyway - which is a bummer. So they say "I can eat anything" - even though they have the tiny pouch, and they have been instructed to eat properly. So the pounch itself isn't enough of an insentive anymore.<br><br> The South Beach Diet or Atkins might be a great route to go, and follow one of them or something similar rigidly, and exercise your butt off. You already have a fantastic start, thanks to the WLS... and you already have the memory of how great it feels to have a drastic weight loss - you can do it again!<br><br> I hope this helps - good luck to you!

You're not giving us much details as far as what you're eating, but just some questions for thought: (1) Are you still keeping up with all your vitamins you need; (2) are you still doing the recommended protein per day; (3) are you exercising every day? (4) Are you following the protein first, then fruits and veggies and then carbs rule? (5) Are you still watching sugars and carb intakes which are a big no-no? Most of us know that to maintain, we'll have to eat carefull for the rest of our lives. We can eat a broad spectrum of things, but it's quantity that counts and following the rules that counts. So based upon your behavior, are you still doing the things that make your tool work? I hear lots of people ask "is my weight loss over". It is if you quit working your tool--but if you follow the guidelines, you can get to goal and stay there.
