Question:
Does anyone seem to get ill more often than before?

I am 4.5 months post-op and everytime a bug is going around I catch it!I was always healthy and hardly got sick but now it,s like I pick up every illness going around. My bloodwork came back good and normally I feel great but when I get sigk,i get sick!!!Anyone know why?My post-op friend warned me of this. 228/170/150    — natalie J. I catch everything now! Always have a runny nose in the morning and lots of flem, gross lol. I'm not sure if it is b/c of the surgery, my blood work is always good. Who knows, my body has been so altered these past few years.

Quite the opposite for me. Just a couple of months ago was the first cold I had since WLS 2.5 years ago.

I've been fortunate that I haven't gotten sick once since a couple of weeks after surgery a year ago.

Just the opposite...I'm over 4.5 years out, and I've never gotten sick once since surgery, whereas before, I would get something at least once every winter. I attribute it to being diligent with my vitamins and protein (including good whey shakes).

Also just the opposite for me. I work in a high school where there have been two pretty major flu bugs going through, and the worst I got was a cold for a couple of days. I have another friend, though, who suffered a lot at first with catching everything. She's 15 months post-op now, and all seems to be resolved at this point.

It's the opposite for me too. I always suffered from about October to April with a continuing cold/flu when I was fat. Since surgery 2 1/2 years ago, I have only had a couple of minor colds that lasted for a few DAYS (not MONTHS as before).

Hi Natalie...well, opposite for me too! I sure hope I don't jinx myself but....before surgery, I dealt with cold sores on my lips, a cold every couple of months, and major cramps during my "cycle". Now, one year later, I have yet to suffer with a cold, yet to see a cold sore and the exercise (I think) has given me the best damned periods I've ever had :) I have no cramps and periods last only 3 days. I think this weight loss thing comes with lots of benefits!!

Hey..looks like I'm with the majority here, too. I've had only one bad cold since surgery almost 3 years ago...before that, It seemed I was always catching something...I chalk it up to all the vitamins we have to take..I didn't take anything before. Denise 316/158

Have to say it's the opposite for me. Never got sick much pre-op anyway, but managed to go my first winter postop without getting one cold, which was unusual. Got one this winter but not too bad. I'm guessing all the vitamins are helping!

I find that I am catching far more colds than I did preop. I am 21 months post op and reached goal a few months back.

since I have 2 grandkids living with me I get the germ of the week, I do not credit the surgery in any way, I blame the daycare centers that let sick kids in to spread stuff to the grandkids.
