Do you have friends with little ones that would take the toddler off your hands a few hours a day? Have you checked with any licensed childcare centers for a temporary childcare? Any relatives willing to take the toddler home with them? Good luck!

It is going to be very hard to do it without any help. I have been home for 5 days and there is no way that I could do this if I had a small child at home. The dogs are bad enough and they ask is that I feed them and let them out once in a while. I suggest a good friend helping a few hours a day or temporary day care. Good luck!

I am pre-op but had a Lap gallbladder removal in October and I have a 20 month old. I had help the first 3 days and then I was on my own. He could crawl up the stairs by himself so I really only needed to lift him when I was putting him in bed, I was just very careful. I napped when he napped as I was really tired.

Hi Beth, I had my surgery 2 wks before my daughter turned 2. I was a single mom and only had help (my mom lived out of town) for 2 days after getting home from the hospital. I had Lap RNY which is different than what you are having but we did just fine. It wasn't bad at all. I was just groggy. Good luck.

I would say get help from your family if not the person that is going to work, see if maybe they can take half days for a little bit. Or you can always hire a sitter while your at home healing to help you. I would also purchase alot of childrens videos. And that will help you recover so you can tend to your two year old.

Nap when the child naps, don't lift the child. You can have him/her sit down next to you and hug you. Toddlers are actually very aware and you can explain that you have a booboo and that is why he/she has to help mommy! You can even show your scars. Little kids love to help out. You should be fine. Just get some gates up to help keep the kid in the room with you. Have toys that you rotate in and out, and get some DVD's to use when necessary. Also, a few books tht you can read together. You could also have some planned activities, depending on what your child likes. Maybe cut some pictures out of magazines and paste them on construction paper. Lots of crayons. Or, play simon says. You can also ask your child how high he/she can jump, reach, etc - anythiong to tir him/her out. Just have stuff planned that you can do while you rest and the child gets some exercise.
