Question:
Very tired and slightly anemic.

Hi, I have done all of my test for the RNY surgery and am now waiting for the doctor to send the results and letter to my insurance for approval (PLEASE,PLEASE approve me). Anyway my blood work came back just slightly anemic, 11.3 (s/b atleast 11.5) so you see it is very very slight, but when I get up in the mornings it takes all I can to move around the house I take lorcet everyday for joint pain and even though there is nothing wrong with my heart it feels like it could jump right out of my chest in the morning when I take a shower, etc. I was wondering if anyone who has had RNY surgery, may have felt so tired and weary before the surgery and how well they handled it afterward?    — lighthouse56 (posted on November 13, 2007)

I HAD RNY 11/9 AND WAS TOLD RIGHT BEFORE I WENT INTO SURGERY THAT I WAS ANEMIC. THE ONE THING TO REMEMBER IS TO WALK, WALK, WALK AFTER SURGERY. I HATE IT AND DON'T WANT TO DO IT, BUT IT SURE HAS HELPED WITH PAIN AND SORENESS. IF YOU CAN ONLY WALK A MINUTE BE SURE TO DO IT, I PROMISE YOU IT WILL HELP ALOT. SORRY TO HEAR THAT YOUR HAVING PROBLEMS, BEING ANEMIC DOES MAKE YOU WEAK AND TIRED, YOUR DR SHOULD RECOMMEND AN IRON SUPPLEMENT THAT WOULD HELP. GOOD LUCK ON YOUR SURGERY, GOD BLESS, DEBI ROBINSON

I agree with Debi. You should be on an iron supplement. Slow release is the best as there is less chance of constipation with it. You will have to take iron after surgery anyway. I would start now to get built up so you can feel better before the surgery. Good Luck and God Bless.

You will feel much better after you are not packing around the extra weight. I remember when I lost my first 30 pounds my back stopped hurting. It was amazing!!!

I was tired for 2 months. Then it went away. I had RNY 4 months ago and have lost 84lbs and 12 inches off my waist. So I don't think you will have to wait till 2009 to see 100 lbs gone. Good luck.
