I believe it is your sternum. Once, I lost a looooot of weight and could feel the exact same thing that you are describing and was told that was my sternum. Congratulations on your weight loss! I am still fat -- my bypass surgery isn't until Aug. 6 in Dallas with Dr. Wade Barker.

Yep sternum--it is like the day you find your collar bones and discover you have hip bones just like other people!!!!

Two months ago I felt the something. I saw my doctor and she said it was just from losing weight. You might still want to get it checked out with your doctor to make sure.

It's called a xyphiod process and it is just a little boney notch. (It's a "landmark" used when you do CPR to make sure your hands are in the right spot to do comperssions.) I knew I had one but couldn't feel it until I lost weight.

None of us are dr.s on here, but it you are feeling a lump in the center of your breast, it's better to be safe then sorry. Call your Dr. and make an appointment.

so do you mean in the cente of your breast, or between your breats? if It is between your breasts and down a little and very hard, it is probably the xyphoid process. A triangular little bone at the bottom of your sternum. I discovered mine too after about 80 lbs of weight loss. I think it is unusually protrusive but you cant see it from looking.

I know exactly what you're talking about. I felt the same thing and as a nurse, should have known what it was. My husband still laughs at me....I went to my doctor for a weigh-in and asked her and she laughed with me. It was definitely my sternum and I have collarbones too....amazing, isn't it??? I would mention it to your doctor when you see her/him, but not get too excited about it being something else until you're sure. If you're still at the early stages, you probably see a doctor fairly often, so....Good luck and feel free to email.....Keep me posted....andrealej

I have laugh, embarassingly, I got worried when I felt the sternum too! Then a friend reassured me that it was only the sternum! I'm feeling bones I never knew I had!
