Question:
Anyone who had Dr. Caruana, after approval letter how long did it take to get surgery

I think it depends on how busy the surgeon is for one thing. When I was in this position, I called the person who schedules the surgery and asked them this question. This would be the most direct way for you to get an answer as anyone posting on this board woulud just be speculating. WHen I made the call and asked how long I was connected right away to the scheduler and they made my surgery appt. within 2 weeks. Different place than you're going however...but only the surgeons office can tell you for sure. Good luck and I hope you get your WLS soon.

I called my surgeon the morning after I received the approval letter, but they told me that I had to wait for their scheduler to call me. She called a week and a half later. BUT I only had to wait 47 days for my surgery, so it wasn't too bad of a wait. I guess that part is gonna depend on your surgeon's schedule. You could call and see what they say, or ask them to put you on a cancelation list.

Originally I had seen Dr. Carauna and had planned on having Open RNY surgery. I decided to see Dr. Viglianco (who is in the same office) to talk about laparoscopic RNY...my surgery date was 4/21/08 w/ Dr. Vig. Once the insurance approved the surgery I was scheduled for my date 3 weeks later. Call the office and talk to Deanne...I know she only calls with scheduled surgery dates on Fridays so you should be hearing from her soon!! Good luck to you ;o) ps: The staff at Sisters Hospital was fantastic, I hope you will be as pleased as I was.
