Question:
Where can I find jeans that fit

Just wondering if anyone else is having the same problems, but I cannot find a pair of jeans for the life of me now that I have lost weight. I was wearing the Lane Bryant "Blue" style and they fit great, but I no longer fit into their clothes, and cannot find reasonably priced jeans. I am 6" so I definitely need some that come in long styles. I have a good amount of skin left on my thighs which makes them unable to fit into traditional style jeans. I also cannot do the low rise as they create an incredible muffin top. I have tried old navy, gap, new york and co, kohls, target. Any other suggestions?    — Clean83 (posted on December 9, 2008)

Try some thrift/good will shops. I found one near me that had about 50 pairs of jeans, bought 5 that were my size, 6 and some 8. The ones I bought were in excellent condition and were Bill Blass, Calvin Klein and Tommy Hilfigger. I love them. Some shops are better than others, but I got all 5 for $25 along with a batch of sweaters, maybe 8 for $27. Lyn

I have a lot of loose skin on my thighs also. I recently had a pannelectomy done so it made it harder to find a pair of jeans that fit my thighs and my now flat stomach. Stetson makes a pair of trouser jeans that fit like a dream! The legs are wider but the waist fits. I am 5'9" tall and the regular length fits me fine. I'm sure the tall would fit you. Several stores sell them. I get mine at my local western store. Also, I have several pair of wide leg jeans that fit my waist but also fit my huge thighs. They look really nice too. I got mine online from JC Pennys.

Have to agree with Lyn...as often as you'll be changing sizes the Thrift Shops make a lot of sense...can't beat the prices !!

Try Maurices or JC Penney's. I bought a lot of my jeans at Penney's while I was losing weight. Always go for the stretch jean.

Hello Colleen, Great problem to have and CONGRATS on the weigh loss. Have you tried Ashley Stewart? I purchase my jeans from there -- yeah a bit expensive --but hey you deserve it -- splug a bit.

Welcome to the big thigh club! My pants, jeans are never loose fitting on me...I fill out every pair of pants I ever put on, if I can get them on! First, make sure the denim has stretch fabric...Then look for cuts that look/are loose fit...I love the Levis 550 Boot Cut...They run just a little fuller in the legs (STRETCHY TOO) and fit the curved woman, nicely! (Kohls) I also just bought my first pair of trouser jeans...Also from Kohl's...They are actually loose in the thighs and all the way down! (I had to hem mine so I know they come long) I get lots of compliments when I wear them! Anothertrouser pair is Lee Jeans (they are super dark almost black) And another is the Levis "Super Slimming"...For the muffin top, wear a binder to help hold stuff in and leave a nice smooth appearance...Also "Stamp 10" Jeans also have a little extra room in the legs...You can get all at Kohl's. You still have some losing time left too....Things "adjust" quite a bit after the first year or even two...My body totally changed/shifted/ tightened...I could not wear low rise or mid rise when I was wearing a size 6-8...Since my body shifted and I gained back 8 lbs at year two...I am now generally a 8-10 and can wear the mid rise...But I bend over and show crack! My daughter informs me that "crack is whack"...so I guess that's a good thing...but the granny panties had to go too or you end up having all this fabric from your panties hanging outta your seat! Fun fun fun! I know...keep looking sweetie! You'll find the right jeans...It's a challenge...but you begin to "eyeball" which ones might fit just by looking at the cut and after a while and you can pick out jeans almost flawlessly without having to try on a gazillion pairs...It's quite a work out trying on jeans, isn't it? Sheesh!

Good Job on the weight loss!! My suggestion is to fit the largest part of you and the length and you can get the rest altered. If you find the right person to do alterations that can be inexpensive. I take my pants to a lady, and she charges between $7.00 and $15.00 depending on what I need done. I hope this suggestion helps. Congrats again on the weight loss!!

American Eagle Outfitters and of all things Victoria Secret both have styles and lengths you are looking for. I am 5'8" and have issues with length. Vera Wang (for Kohls) works well for me. Also Angels jeans (Ross) and Levis (Mervyns or anywhere they sell a lot of styles) works well, too. Good luck.

I am getting ready to have the lapband tomorrow, but my friend had the RNY 2 years ago and she says that Lane Bryant has the best jeans and the lose weight with you. She said they are a little more expensive but they are worth every penny. Congrats on your weight loss....

Are you near an Eddie Bauer? They have jeans in several fits. They sell in short, regular and tall fits. I wear their shaped (for curvy), short. They have them with and without stretch. I have been wearing them since I was a size 10. I am now a 6 and they fit so well I can just walk in pick them up and walk out. I never have to try them on because they are so consistant with size.

You might try www.blairfashions.com. They have a good selection that generally fits especially after a large weight loss. Also thrift and consignment shops are good places to look. There is a website for transgenders-no offense intended to anyone-www.alaska.net/kathyrn/favorite which offers clothing which would fit probably. vinnigirl

If you do a Google search and put in the words Newport News or Metrostyle they are online catalogs and also they mail out catalogs.... They have jeans in tall lengths and their jeans come in many colors and different "fits" like classic fit, skinny fit, boyfriend jeans, relaxed fit, and each fit type has description of how it fits the body....

Anita....crack is whack is not a good thing! Whack means crazy, or not cool, so it's a good thing you got the right kind of pants, as not to show your crack! LOL Try Chirstopher and Banks, not CJ Banks. They have nice jeans, and mid range priced clothing that come in smaller sizes than their sister store for big girls, CJ Banks. Otherwise, I agree with other posters about WalMart's pants, especially if you have more weight to lose. Happy shopping!

I have had really good luck at Kohls also. They have Sonoma and Apt.9 brand jeans with a wide leg. It gives more room in the thigh area and are very flattering. I am only 5'5 and also have to hem them at least 3" - 4". I usually end up paying around $20 a pair, as they always have coupons and clearance. They all have the stretch denim which helps. Since I discovered these jeans I have bought wayyyyy too many pairs than I really need. Good luck! Toni

You did not say what size you are wearing, but Avenue carries talls in Jeans and slacks too. Also JCPENNY catalogue if not in the stores carries even an ULTA tall. Hope this helps. Monica

congrats first of all! I wear Lee jeans with no gap waist band. They are extremely comfortable and you can get them at Kmart for about 20 bucks!

If you can't find what you need at a thrift shop check out JCPenneys. I bought some jeans there - two different brands, one was Arizona and the other started with a V... Anyway they were LONG -- longer than I needed but probably really good for someone as tall as you -- and stretchy and so comfortable. Not baggy - just nice. Good luck!!

congrats on the weight loss, way to go. Walmart has the Lee Riders, they are great. Before I gained some of my weight back, they were comfortable and they do come in tall.

If Lane Bryant pants worked well for you then you need to check out Fashion Bug. They are a sister corp for Lane Bryant but carry both larger and smaller size clothing. I know they have the "Right Fit" pants like Lane Bryant. Good Luck
