I don't know when you had your surgery...but hair loss starts at about month three and tapers off for about three months...The things you are taking are about all you can do to try to help it some...but the fact is, nothing but time will stop it! It will grow back! You will being to see little peach fuzz at your hair line and before you know it...The loss stops and your hair will all grow back! I had to pin my up because it was so long and heavy...and it just fell out by the handful! I was totally freaking out! I didn't wash my hair but every three days to try to help...I cut some length too but nothing really stopped it from happening...and sure enough just like my nut said...It would begin growing back and it did! Yours will too! Doesn't make it any easier, huh? HUGS!

I ate lots and lots of beef jerky, yogurt, and refried beans. I had virtually no hair loss....a very little thinning at the temples, at about 3 - 6 months post-op. My hair is thicker and healthier than it every was prior to surgery. Don't worry. Be well.

Your surgeon should have made you aware of the strong possiblity of hair loss. It happens to the majority of RNY patients, some 4-8 months post op typically. Hair grows back. Most patients would gladly go though the temporary hair loss and LOSE WT, as opposed to have gorgeous hair and still be morbidly obese. You might gain a lot from attending local wt loss support groups. Hair begins growing back as soon as it falls out. Troule is, the hair only grows 1/4 inch per month. Most post op women get shorter hair cuts during this hair loss and regrowth time frame. DAVE

had really thin hair to start with, and they said being put under for surgery shocks your body, and causes hairloss, I have lost alot of hair, this past week, my hair looked horrible, so I went and got a short cut, and now it looks fuller and healthier than ever!!! I take biotin and drink protein shakes almost everyday, and I take my bariatric vitamins, I think I will keep mine short for awhile, it just feels and looks so much healthier, and I am 11 months out, and I feel like I am not losing as much hair as before, hope this helps, I have noticed I have some hair shorter than others on top, I am assuming this is new hair growth, just keep drinking protein and taking vitamins!! You may also want to look into getting nioxin shampoo and conditioner, from a beauty salon, walmarts carries it in thier salon. it is expensive though, but some people swears by it, I can't afford to use it,lol!!!

Its true, mine was started exactly at 3 months and lasted for 3 months then it stopped as quickly as it started. I had thick hair so it was not noticible to others, just to me. I have to say my hair is thicker now that before and its still getting new growth so there is a bright side to the ordeal. Hopefully it will pass quickly for you. I had the RNY and I am at 11 months now.

Every person is different....I lose hair during times of physical or mental stress. Maybe it's because I have a ton?! I have no idea. I know I got my protein and my biotin and lost about half it seemed. I still had enough that no one noticed but me. There were times when I swore my part was expanding. Anyhow, when the peach fuzz started happening (which on me equated to just sprouts of hair sticking out of the rest) I went and got my hair chopped off super short. I decided I love it! That was when I was 6 months post-op. I'm now 13 + and have kept it super short.>>>>>>> So my suggestion is find a new style for the new you and embrace it.

Yes, it will grow back. My hair was to the middle of my back and it was falling out like crazy. I was freaking out! I cut it to my shoulders. It has since all grown back very nicely and much curlier I must add. It is now down to my butt. Hang in there!
