My short term memory sucks! I didn't notice a difference after my surgery. I read somewhere that the phen phen drug caused this. Did you ever take it in the past? I did.

From your bio, I think I read you were 340 pounds on day of surgery. I. You're only 4 months post op, and loosing 115 pounds is good progress. Keep up the exercise, eat the proper things high in protein, drink protein shakes, drink water, stay away from snacks--and you'll continue to have progress. 115 pounds in 4 months is good progress. The large a person is, the more weight they will initally loose.

Try adding some Vitamin B12 to your diet. You can get sublingual (under the tongue) supplements at Walmart for cheap. It takes a few weeks, but they might help.

I had Lap RNY 7/9/07. I have lost 105 lbs. I have been having memory problems also. I forgot what my address was. I have been living in the same house for 18 years and could not for the life of me think of what my address was. I could not remeber my phone number of 18 years either. But the worse thing was I could not think of my grandsons name. I have never had a problem like this before.

Many people seem to be having these issues and I have been researching it myself. There seems to be a connection between not getting enough calcium and protein. The calcium is not only good for your bones but it helps absorb bad fats and metals from your blood system that build up and cause problems. Aluminum is one such metal. They have found a correlation between high aluminum/ low calcium in people who have died from alzhemiers(my spelling sucks). Don't think that this means you have this disease! But there is the connection that your nutrition is more important than what you think- so get what you should- memory and brain function depend on carbs! So don't cut them all out! Remember it's all things in moderation!

My memory has been bad for the best few years. Since I had my surgery last January, its gotten worst. I'll be talking with someone and just totally lose all train of thought. Sometimes it takes a few min to remember what I was going to say.
