Question:
Or, Has anyone used any BCBS Cobra and gotten an approval for gastric bypass?

I had no luck with BCBS Cobra. Our former employer had specifically opted out of any WLS coverage. You should check with your former employer to see if they provide coverage. If not, as it was for us, we had no "right" to appeal. Hope you have better luck!

I had BCBS of Illinois but have just taken the COBRA insurance. I have not gotten approval yet; I am on my 3rd month of the 6 month supervised diet right now BUT, I did call BCBS before I opted to pay the HUGE amount required to carry COBRA insurance and they told me that I the insurance I had while with my previous employer will not change; that it is the exact same coverage you had previously. I have however heard that BCBS is hard to get approval through and that you have to have ALL required documents for them to consider approval for you.
