Question:
COULD MEDICATION CAUSE ME TO FEEL HUNGRY

HI,I NEED SOME ADVISE. I HAVE FIBROMYALGIA,FAIRLY ADVANCED. MY P.C.P. PERSCRIBES DARVOCET FOR PAIN RELEIF. MY CONDITION IS ADVANCED TO THE STATE THAT I PRAY TO KEEP GOING SO I CAN WORK. WORKING IS A NECESSITY FOR ME,NOT A CHOICE. PAIN RELEIF IS A NECESSITY,AGAIN ,NOT A CHOICE. I HAVE ONLY LOST APPROX. 63 LBS. SINCE 9/10/01. THE LOSS HAS HELPED A LOT AND I AM VERY GRATEFUL. I NEED TO LOSE ANOTHER 60. I FEEL AS IF I'M STARVING,MOST OF THE TIME. I BELEIVE IT'S THE DARVOCET THAT'S CAUSING THE FEELING OF EXTREME HUNGER AS I CAN BARELY GET FOOD DOWN A LOT OF TIMES,YET I FEEL AS IF I HAVEN'T EATEN IN HOURS. IF ANYONE HAS A SUGGESTION,I WOULD BE VERY GRATEFUL. MAYBE A SIMILAR EXPERIENCE. IF THERE IS SOMETHING IN DARVOCET THAT COULD CAUSE THE HUNGER. WHAT COULD I SUBSTITUTE FOR PAIN RELEIF? ANY THOUGHTS? I'M OPENED TO ANY AND ALL SUGGESTIONS ,, THANKS TO ALL YOU LOSERS,YOU'RE ALL WONDERFUL. THANKS, PAM W.    — PAM W. (posted on May 29, 2002)

Hi Pam, I have fibromyalgia and Rheumatoid Arthritis, I take Hydrcodone & Prozac for pain and Bextra for inflamation. I take my meds with buttermilk or an antiacid. When I get hunger pains before I should eat I drink more buttermilk, if that does not work I eat fruit. This has worked for me, I would ask your Dr. about your situation. If I can help in any way please feel free to e-mail me any time. Good luck to you in your weight loss journey! (((Hugs)))
