With all surgeries you eat less, eventually and hopefully at goal you eat the same amount you burn daily and the loss stops. Plus the band is adjustable so it can be loosened if you lose too much but honestly with all these surgeries underweight isnt common and easily solved.

Hi Brenda, my body just stopped losing once it reached the size it wanted. I know that sounds a bit weird but it's true. I would have been very happy at 150 pounds. In fact, I thought I was done losing and went out and bought an entire new wardrobe. Shortly after, my body decided it was ready to start losing again. But, I have been maintaining (within a 5 pound range) for at least two years now. It's really as if my body reached the spot it needs to be and just stayed. If that doesn't happen for you, and you are losing too much weight. You and your doctor may decide to "unfill" you slightly. Take care, Vicki

Your body will most likely do this automatically as you reach a "healthy" weight. If you reached goal and continued losing, all you would need to do is increase your caloric intake. If you did that and still continued to lose, your surgeon would most likely remove some of the saline in your band. Most people do not have a problem with losing too much because it is relatively simple to add more calories to the diet. Best wishes.
