Question:
So I am approved after one year and 6 months!
So I just want to run out in the streets and yell I'm approved. The sad part if my family is so against it that I have nobody who is happy for me. My family is afraid of complications and doesn't want me to have it. I am a healthy 30 year old with weight being my only problem. CONGRATULATIONS AMANDA - Your are about to start a totally new life! I am
soo very happy for you. I am almost 10 months post-surgery and I have never
been happier in my life! Follow your doctors instructions very closely,
don't be afraid to call him/her after surgery, and be very proactive with
your after care. Complications can happen - I got an infection a week after
surgery, but it was no big deal. I would totally do this surgery again!
YEAH AMANDA - go ahead and shout it in the streets!!!!!!!!

I went thru the same thing.They are just scared.But that is life! I told
everyone I was getting lapband and when I came out of surgery I told them
the truth.I a 6 weeks post from RNY and would do it again! I have felt
great from day 1.Best of luck to you!

Share your excitement here, Amanda....we'll all rejoice with you! You have
LOTS of friends on this website without even having to ask! And almost ALL
of us would do it again in a nano-second....it's THAT life-changing!

You must be so excited! It's ok to be nervous,it's normal. I did alot of
education with my family. they of course were worried and scared for me.
I'm 20 years older then you. Should have had the surgery when I was 30. I
had no health issues other than my weight, and joint pain and being tired
all the time. 8 months almost to the day from my RNY, 114lbs lost, no
joint pain, NO complications, tons of energy. I feel and look 20 years
younger. I'm very happy for you. Best thing I ever did for just me.

Congrats! It was a year and a half for me also before I finally got to
have the surgery, and I'm SOOOO happy I did. I'm 4-1/2 months out from RNY
and I seriously regret not having had it years ago. By the way, I didn't
even tell my family or friends, other than my husband and his sister,
because I didn't want to hear their opinions and comments. Again,
congratulations!

Amanda, your post sounds like me, I heard so many negative comments about
my decision to have the surgery, that I wished I hadn't told a soul. These
comments even came from my immediate family. I guess they are scared but I
think it is more than that, sorry to say. Like I say many times on posts,
it hasn't been easy for me, but I would do it in a New York minute again.

CONGRATS AMANDA!!!! :) Your family is worried... mine was also! I had RNY
12/09 and have lost 54lbs. It's been a journey. But a road well traveled
in my book! Keep us posted!

HI AMANDA I'M REALLY GLAD YOU GOT APPROVED . I KNOW YOUR FAMILY AND FRIENDS
ARE WORRIED ABOUT YOUR SAFETY DURING SURGERY . THEY SHOULD BE MORE WORRIED
IF YOU DON'T GO AHEAD WITH THIS SURGERY . I HAD RNY SURGERY 1 YEAR AGO . MY
RNY SURGERY HAS SAVED MY LIFE . I NO LONGER TAKE ANY KIND OF MEDICATION ,
MY SLEEP APNEA HAS DISAPPEARED , MY BLOOD PRESSURE IS NORMAL AND I HAVE
ENERGY THAT GOES THROUGH THE ROOF . THE BEST PART IS I'VE LOST 184 LBS. AND
AM STILL LOSING . THIS IS ONE OF THE BEST THINGS YOU'LL EVER DO FOR
YOURSELF . JUST KEEP YOUR FOCUS AHEAD , AND WHEN THIS IS ALL DONE AND YOUR
