Question:
I had RNY 6yrs ago I've gained 25lbs.

I lost a total of 156lbs in the first 15mohts after my surgery. I did not like the way I looked so I started to eat 7 small meals aday to gain at least 10 lbs. Now that I have gained 25 lbs I hate it. I started to excerise twice a day I've lost 5 lbs in two months can anyone please tell me how many calories do I need to take per day to start losing weight again. ( I want to lose 20 lbs ) I know I have a tool so I want to start using it.    — maricruz (posted on August 4, 2011)

I don't know how many calories you need to burn but something that may help you is an online program called FitDay. They have a free online version as well as a version you can buy. You will put your info in the program such as current weight, amount you want to lose, etc. The system will let you know how many calories you should take in daily. You should also use the option to put in your daily foods and exercise. The program will let you know if you are on track. This way you can see what changes you need to make. I had my surgery almost 5 yrs ago and the program has helped me stay on track. Best wishes to you and don't give up!! You can definitely turn this around!

I am in the same boat you are! Tried to gain back 10 pounds because I got too thin, and then I just couldn't seem to stop it. A friend clued me in to a diet that is saving me. The Dukan Diet. Look it up online there is a website Dukandiet.com or my favorite because it is free and has a ton of recipes that I like is Mydukandiet.com It has taken me back to eating similar to what I ate after surgery, mostly protein with a little bit of veggies. I have lost 5.4 pounds in less than a week and I feel great. I had lost a 110 pounds after surgery and now need to re-lose about 30, so I only have 25 to go and I can see it happening in a reasonable amount of time. There is also a book, I read it, lots of good information etc. My blog about it is dukandietcathy.blogspot.com if you want to follow my progress.

Herbalife has a great tool that can figure out how many calories a day your body burns, how many grams of protein your body needs each day to build lean body mass, how many calories you need to eat to maintain your weight, lose weight etc. If you can find a local herbalife nutrition club many of them have a scanner that can answer those things for you. If you aren't able to find a nutrition club you can get in touch with an herbalife distributor and we can plug your numbers into a program and get a pretty good idea. I had gained back 65 lbs and was miserable and have lost 30 lbs since May 19th, my blood pressure has dropped from the 140's/80's to 105/72 and all of my blood work came back in the normal range for the first time in at least 5 years since I started taking the herbalife supplements and protein drinks. I love them. You can learn more at my blog at http://healthy-wealthy-n-wise.com/blog or message me or get in touch with me. I am finally happy with my life again! It is amazing to me. It is like living that original weight loss journey all over again where I discover something new every day. I had begun to feel like such a failure and so hopeless. I would love to give you any information I can and help you or put you in touch with someone who can. Surgery 2001 lost 130 lbs and gained back 65 now have lost thirty and continue to lose each week!!! Wendy Hugh Netolicky RN
