Question:
What could this pain be?

When i woke up from surgery i only remember pain in my back. About a week after surgery i developed right sided, flank pain which has continued til now at 4 weeks postop. It is intermittant during the day, none at night. When it happens it is so severe it takes my breath away and the only thing that helps is prescription pain meds. I have seen my pcp and he did labs which were normal, the urinalysis was questionable so i am on antibiotics. But the pain is still there. I am so worried. It is very localized in one spot. Any ideas? I am calling the surgeon today, too. other than that my recuperation from surgery has been excellent.    — PATSY N. (posted on March 26, 2002)

You may have a rib out of place. I had mine done Lap and I started going back to the chiro a week out and about 2 weeks out I noticed a weird pain on my left side and back. Upon examination, he said that one of my ribs was out of alignment and that is why I was having pain in the front and in the back. He said it was probably from the poking and prodding of the laparoscope during surgery. He adjusted me a few times and got it back into place and after a few visits, the pain was gone. Good luck!
