Question:
Does Rogain for women work?

I will be a year this month, and started loosing my hair at 3 months. Thought it would stop between 6-9 months, but no buddy. You always know where I have been because of my hair leaving a trail everywhere. So I've tried shampoos, the uptake pf protein, the extra vitamins, and nothing. I'm not bald, but I've always had thick hair, and can now see my scalp. I also got burnt on my head, never happened before. I'm just scared since it hasn't stopped that it won't, and i'll end up with nothing at all, or just patches. So I was wondering if I should try rogain for women, has anyone tried this with success? Please any help, or advice, is welcome.    — Rosie W. (posted on November 19, 2003)

Rogaine For Women works for the type of hair loss that it's designed to help. It is formulated to slow loss and regain growth for hair loss that is a result of heredity. I've used it for several years (my mother had very thin hair by her mid-forties, mine was thinning considerably at 40). It does help slow down the heritable hair loss. However, it did nothing for the temporary hair loss from surgery. No one quite knows why many of us lose hair post-op (guesses range from lack of protein, low iron, low B12, or other vitamin/mineral deficiencies, anesthesia, and stress). However, because it is not heritable hair loss, Rogaine will not help. Trust me, the hair thinning eventually stops, and what you've lost will grow back. In the meantime, be sure to take all of your vitamin supplements and get enough protein. That's all you can do.
