I still get it eating certain types of food. I always have it with me every where I go, you never know when it will hit you. Hope it works for you.JoAnn

Hello~ I am sorry to hear that you are having so much pain...I had gas the first 3 days or so after my open RNY. The nurse suggested that i lay on my right side for a while then get up and walk to try and pass some of the gas. It did work for me...Here at home when i have gas (now almost 1 month post-op) i lay on the right side and sometimes use a heating pad. Hope you are feeling better soon.

WALK walk walk walk walk! Not only does it help gas pain but it minimzes the chance of bloodclots, and the increased blood flow helps you to heal faster. If the pain gets severe call your surgeon or go to the ER.

I can just agree with Bob. Walk walk walk. You can just walk up and down you room or so but that will help you a lot.

I had my lap RNY 4/18- I agree WALK WALK WALK- you can also use a medium temp heating pad to your back- sounds odd but it helps- also I found peppermint tea helped. Good luck.

I had my lay RNY on 4/26 and I found that walking helped push the gas up and out. Some of the burps are kindof painful. But I felt better after. Lisa

Don't forget about the gas-x. That stuff really helps, as well as the walking. I think I went through 2 boxes the first week home, and then it was pretty much gone.
