Question:
How to post an avatar picture?

I want to put a picture of myself as my avatar but when downloading from my computer files, it states that the pictures are too big or in wrong form. I have scanned smaller prints and edited the picture to littler sizes but can't figure it out. Anyone know an easy way. Thanks Marsha    — tigerlil58 (posted on March 7, 2009)

I use an online resizer. Go here: http://www.shrinkpictures.com/create-avatar/ Then make sure you change the number to 100 on the size. I think it's defaulted at 200, and it should give you the perfect size.

Make sure your pictures are in the JPG format and are at least under 100 pixels in size. One side of the picture has to be 100 pixels or smaller. The odds are you are NOT going to get your avatar to be a PERFECT square, so don't worry that the OTHER side is not exactly 100 pixels. Just as long as ONE edge is, you are OK. If you try to FORCE both edges to be EXACTLY 100 pixels, you will get a distorted picture. It will look like a funhouse mirror image of what you initially wanted. If you are having any more difficulty with resizing your picture, just send me a message at my mailbox and ask for my email address. I will send you my email address, and you can send me the pictures. I will resize them for you. Hugh

You can download any number of free programs that allow you to play around with pix. Picassa for example is free and simple - lets you resize pix when you export them, remove red eyes, crop pix, straighten and all that fun stuff.
