Question:
Virus? Spam? Hoax?
I received a message in my inbox the other day from someone. They said they were dying and wanted me to continue to give money to their causes ( with their money). It is a large sum and I don't know this person. Their status is "deactivated member". Have any of you gotten this sent to you? It's a hoax. Never ever give money to anyone you don't know. And people
on OH don't do this kind of thing.

I don't know if I worded that right. They want to give ME their money to
take care of their causes. They are not asking me for my money, so I'm not
sure what to think of this.

This is a bad scam!! Dont fall for it. Let obesityhelp know the email is
on the site with the screen name of the person doing this. On my other
forums, this is totally unacceptable.

def a scam..you see and hear about htem all the time. Don't falll for it.
Don't even reply back to them. Many people have been burned by these scams.

I received one too, and yes it's a scam. Mark it as 'abuse' in your inbox
and it will send a report to OH. I was saddened to find this on OH, but I
guess people like this are everywhere. :)

Marcia, I have read everyone's response to your question. I used to work
in our State's Attorney General's Office in the consumer protection
division before I retired. I can tell you for sure that this is a fraud
with a capito F. Do not, under any circumstances fall for this. All these
people want is your hard earned money. These types of people pray on
others. In these depressed times, you will probably see more of these
types of scams. Also, if anyone sends you a check that seem real and asks
you to deposit it for some reason and return a portion to them. DO NOT DO
IT. Eventually, your bank will come back to you telling you that they
check was a fraud and you are then responsible for the total amount. (So
you have lost what you returned to them and the amount of the check).
Also, if you do not know who a person is, do not open the email. It is a
way for them to get into your accounts.

This is a scam that some one some how posted in out little family here.
IGNORE IT, DELETE IT, REMOVE IT, REPORT IT. I get this stuff all the time
in my email in box. They take us for fools. PLEASE DO NOT respond to this
or anything like this.
