can anyone tell me why I am required to take a baby asprin everyday after surgery? I will be having gastric bypass.    — ajrickert (posted on April 6, 2009)

Asprin will help thin your blood so you don't get clots.

baby asprin also helps protects the heart.

RNYers aren't supposed to take it because it is so harsh on the pouch, but with VSG, you have the acid producing part of your stomach and your intestines are not bypassed so you have nothing but restriction and a regular operating system....so...it's "probably" for your heart and blood flow...
