Question:
cardiologist and plavix help please

What else can your bariatric surgeon do if your cardiologist says your fit for RNY surgery but you can't go off of plavix but your surgeon wants you to go off for a week before your surgery. Is there anything else the surgeon can do if your still on plavix for your surgery or is there something else your surgeon can give you instead of plavix. I need help here. I do not know what to do. I certainely do not want to come this far and be denied surgery because of plavix.    — cuppaloopy (posted on August 25, 2009)

my gastric surgeon had me go off plavix 1 week to 10 days before surgery. there was a problem when i told him my doctor said to get off 1 week before and the surgeon wanted me to be off 10 days before. it is very dangerous to be on plavix during surgery they said you can possibly bleed to death.
