Congrats. If you're working make sure to take off for at least 2 weeks depending on the kind of job you have. I personally took off for 1 month and was glad I did. Make sure to purchase all of your post op vitamins (multi,B12,Biotin,etc). Also have your protein supplements ready for when you get home. Make sure you have lots of sugar free liuids and liquid only soups. This is what you will eat after surgery. If you haven't already start your diet now. Try to loose some weight before the surgery to make the procedure easier on your surgeon. Start eating less and healthier now. Make sure you have lots of comfy/loose clothes. I wore sweats for 3 weeks. Right before the surgery make sure your house is clean and nice for you to come home to. Preparing will make your life easier afterwards. Hope this helps. Let me know if you need any other advice.

Yay! Congrats! I got my date too, I go 6/29/09 for a duodenal switch; which is why I thought your question was so important. What operation are you having done?

the best thing u can do now is to stop eating carbs.this will help u in the long run in several ways, first it will start a weight loss that will cause the fat from around u'r liver to begin to go.this makes it easier for the surgeon to move u'r liver to do the surgery thus making it easier on u.second and i think even more important is if u can get the "carb monkey" off u'r back pree op it will not be an issue post op.u will have other things to deal with post op like small bites,no drinking with meals, small quanities.chewing to oblivion, etc so not having the monkey on u'r back is so very helpful.if he is not there u will not crave cards ,after about 4 to 5 days of no carbs it is easier.Congradulations on u'r decision and u'r date.Much sucess is possible, what an exciting time for u.

Congradulations and best of luck. I'm scheduled for RNY on Tues 6/16/09. Can't wait. I prepared by trying to loose weight. My son gave me an IPOD shuffle for Mothers Day and I've been walking almost everyday. I've lost 7 lbs this past month but feel my breathng and stanima are better. Donna Holman

i think the very best thing u can do is to elimanate carbs from your diet now.It will take several days of determination to overpower the desire for them but once they r out of u'r system u won;t crave them physically. After surgery u will have other new habits to deal with and the carb "monkey"will not be on u'r back making u want more carbs.it will also start to remove some of the fat around your liver and this will make the DR's job a bit easier.doesn't matter if u r having RNY or lapband the Dr has to scoop your liver out of the way in order to get to the top part of your stomach.Congradulations and good luck
