That's the WORST feeling. I absolutely hate it. Different things work for different people, but what I do is stop swallowing ANYthing for a little while. I just spit and spit and spit. It's not pretty, but after doing this for awhile, I start to sip water. If it still feels stuck, I stop the water and keep spitting. For some reason for me, if I stop putting anything down there for a little while, it seems to pass. I've read about others trying diet coke (must be the bubbles) or meat tenderizer mixed in a little water. Feel better soon!!! I still can't eat fish because of how bad I felt when I was about 6 weeks post-op. I steer clear of noodles for the same reason.

You probally ate to much. I'm 2 years post op and still have this happen. Sometimes I eat to fast and don't get the full feeling in time to stop before I too full. Perhaps you are eating to fast? Sometimes I have to throw up just a tad of it to stop the presure.

I had surgery April 4th and I've been going through the same thing. First suggestion from the Dr was to try warm tea, second was sugar free Robitussin (that worked up until yesterday) and today they said try Benedryl. The foam is a combination of mucous and digestive juices. (By the way, milk products don't help .. they add to the phlegm) The trick is finding which one of these works for you. My Dr says it is a normal thing among many of his patients. So, we're not alone in this, but it's always good to talk to your own surgeon about these things. Who knows, there might be a different suggestion from what I've gotten!

yeah...I agree with Daniel. You ate too fast or too much and it's stuck...Tuna and salmon always stick with me, so I don't eat them. The frothing is saliva that can't make its way down. Try the tea, then you'll puke and feel better. lol Sorry but true for me every time. Don't drink water it makes it 10x worse. You'll get used to and learn. We all do! 8 weeks out -40

Our nutritionist just talked to us about this last week and she told us drink a little bit of warm water. Not pleasant I know, but then again neither is the frothing.

I've had this happen three times. The first time was the worst, I swallowed a Zinc tablet, nausea, foaming, sweats, tired. The second time I know I ate a chicken breast too fast, the third time, I ate 2 grapes. For me it appears that it can happen anytime when I eat anything. I asked my surgeon about this 2 weeks ago and he said he never heard of it but someone else in my support group meeting also has had this happen. It takes about 2 hours for the "stuck in my chest" feeling to pass and usually leaves me in such a state that I can't eat at all for the rest of the day and it takes a couple of hours before I can drink anything.
