Question:
what do you think of curves gym?

i am in the Uk and a branch of curves has opened near me. Have other members found it to be good . is it better than a conventional gym? thanks    — JULIE B. (posted on March 3, 2004)

Hi, Julie. The answer to your question depends on a lot of factors. Curves is for women only and a lot of the people who use it are of size. Now, if you are not comfortable working out in front of guys or if you are new to the workout scene, it is a great idea. Many people find down the road that it's not enough for them as they increase their workouts to match their fitness level. Hope this helps. :)

I go to Curves and just love it. I try to go 3 times a week and have been using the machines for 45 minutes a day. You get out of it what you put into it. Some people really work them hard and others just do them gentle. Some people are jogging in place and others are dancing or just walking.

Hi Julie, I just joined Curves last week and I had researched it prevously. I have a horribly busy schedule and I need something that is quick. Curves seems to be that and I have enjoyed it very much so far. I feel like I can already see and feel some physical difference and so far, so good. Wishing you the best with whatever decision you make.

Hi Julie....I love Curves! It's quick and painless. Being a new mom to twins and having a 12 year old, I don't have much time to exercize. I go straight from work-only 30 minutes. I walk a mile during lunch. The owner of my Curves also has some other equipment available like hand weights, jump ropes, hula hoops, stretching bands and an ab roller. There are women of all shapes, sizes and ages. We even have a 77 year old women at ours who works out 4 days a week! Talk about inspiration and dedication.

Make sure you are aware of the hours of operation. That is why I didn't join. I'm at the gym by 6am and work out on weekends as well. The 2 Curves locations near me opened at 8am and were only open until 7pm and they weren't open on Sundays. Their hours didn't work for me - it may for others.

I LOVE Curves. YES, def. check the hours first as they aren't REALLY the most convenient or accesible for all. But as everyone else said, a 1/2 hour work out, and you are DONE. Heck, I can manage a 1/2 hour of my day! I try to get over there 4 times per week, but at least 3. Since I started in Dec. I have lost 18.60 inches off my body, and 2.5% body fat. I need to get weighed/re-measured this month yet, but I'm THRILLED with that kind of progress!
