Cigna insurance in North Carolina
Has anyone dealt with Cigna insurance in North Carolina to get approved for RNY???Any advice? How long did it take to get approval? — amanda1972 (posted on March 1, 2010)

Hi, I have Cigna insurance in South Carolina. Their requirements are a 6
months supervised weight loss diet. But it also depends on what kind of
plan your employer purchase also. After that you should visit your surgeon
and they should submit your paperwork to your insurance company.

I had Cigna and they were very difficult to work with. They required a 6
month diet with my PCP, then once we submitted everything they denied me.
By the grace of God my husbands insurance changed 3 days after my denial
and we went to BC BS. We submitted to BC on 1-2-09 and were approved on
1-5-09. Good luck and Cigna plans vary. Kimberly

I have Cigna NC as my secondary insurance. They covered the Dr visits as
usual, but not any of the procedures. Good luck to you!
