Question:
I was just approved for the Lapband (the surgery date isnt scheduled yet)
I was wondering if there is Anyone that had the LapBand Can you see it sticking out from your skin or can you feel it? — AngelKay34 (posted on August 4, 2007)

mine is under my left rib and it sticks out some now that i have lost sooo
much weight and i feel it if i lay on my stomach i re-adjust to get
comfortable but it is really no big deal i love my band

Hey Angel,
CONGRATS!!!
I myself had the lap band, and, NO you cannot see it sticking out. You can
feel the port where the fluid will be either added or taken out, but you
won't feel the lapband itself.
No one will even know you have one, unless you tell them.

I had the LapBand performed almost 2 years ago. You cannot see it sticking
out and I can't feel it when I press on my stomach. When I got my fills,
he would stick the needle in and inject. I could tell he was sticking into
something else, but I've never been able to feel it by pressing down on my
stomach.

Angel,
I had my lap band surgery on 13 June. No...the lap band itself is embedded
deep inside. However, the port is just under the skin and if I press in I
can feel the port, but it's not visible.
I am thrilled with my surgery as I feel great and had almost no pain or
discomfort. I've lost 27 pounds so far and had my first fill this past
Monday.

I have had my band for 4 1/2 years. I lost a lot of weight, more than my
excess weight, and also had a tummy tuck in April of this year. You can
see my port if you know what you are looking for. It doesn't show through
my clothes, nor is it noticable to folks who do not know what they are
looking for. But yes, I can actually see my port under the layer of skin.
I am a bit unusual though as I now weigh only 127-130. Most band patients
lose about 50-60% of their excess weight not all of it. For those folks
the port will not show.

Congrats on getting your date!! I was banded on 6/21/07, I just felt my
port (where they do the fill & unfill later...so people call a
"fill" an "adjustment" also) for the first time about
two weeks ago. The port is stitched to the muscle under the fat and
skin....mine is about where my abs are on right side so, as you lose fat it
will feel closer to the surface, but you don't have anything hanging out of
you that the dog might try to play with LOL :) The band itself...NO, you
will never see or feel it.

I just had my lap band put on August 7th. NO you can't see or anything
like that. I was told you can only feel the port if you press around the
area it is in, but I have not felt mine..I have no regrets...I feel
great...I have lost 8 pounds since Tuesday. good luck
