Question:
HOW MUCH DOES A TUMMY TUCK COST?

I AM NOT EVEN CLOSE TO SURGERY BUT I AM TRYING TO LOOSE WEIGHT ON MY OWN (32 POUNDS DOWN SO FAR) AND I AM JUST WOUNDERING HOW MUCH A TUMMY TUCK COST? JUST IN CASE ONE DAY I MAY NEED ONE. BY THE TIME I AM DONE I WILL HAVE LOST 88 POUNDS. HAS ANYONE LOST THAT MUCH AND NOT NEEDED ONE?    — DBXX (posted on December 12, 2002)

Plastic surgeon's fee = $6000; Surgical suite (outpatient) = $1350; Anesthesiologist = $1400. This is in Northern NJ, a suburb of NYC. The coasts are usually a bit more pricey than middle America.

I had a tummy tuck in 1998 after a loss of 80+ lbs. I had it done at Baptist Hospital in Winston Salem N.C. It is a large tranning hospital. Total cost was Right at 4,000.I had seen 2 other Doctors in private practice it was between 8 and 13,000 dollars.

First of all congratulations you are doing a great job!!!! I am down 119 pounds with surgery. But I don't need a tummy tuck. Everything went back to where it is supposed to be. You can tell by my picture on my profile I have no sagging skin.

My plastic surgeon's fee for my tummy tuck was $3000, but that doesn't include hospital, anesthesia and medical supplies. Those "extras" increased the cost to almost $6000. I was offered the option of having the surgery done in the surgeon's office. That total cost (including anesthesia, drugs, and medical supplies) would have been $4000. Charges will likely vary considerably from state-to-state, and urban versus rural areas. I live in a suburban area of NC. Good luck!
