Question:
Does any one know how to get your medical records from a Dr...?

Does any one know how to get your medical records from a Dr. who was banned from practicing medicine. He no longer has the same phone number and I have no way of getting in contact with him. His name is Dr. Steven J. Cynn he was a weight loss Dr. in Charlotte N.C.    — Sylvia Clyburn (posted on December 29, 2005)

Well, he should have, ideally, transferred his records... or perhaps he may still have them in storage somewhere. But I would suggest you first look in the Charlotte phone directory for the North Carolina Medical Association offices. They should be the ones to help you sort this problem out. Simply tell them you need their help and then be insistent and persistent (nicely so, of course.. ) Theresa

First of all, Thank God you are not seeing this person. I work for Doctors now and have in the past, but I have never worked for one that was banned. If he is/was an M.D. you can probably contact the American Medical Association for help. Unfortunately if he was banned from practicing, I doubt you have a very good chance of getting your records. You might also see if you can contact an attorney that deals with malpractice cases (one that has a free consultation) and see if you have any recourse. Good Luck!

GO to the the medical board of licensing for doctors in your state, they will advise you on where the records are, they probably have them under lock and key some where, if he lost his license, Your insurere, also will have a psedo record of your treatment history, from a bill payment angle, dates of service and what for, labs, ect. will tell a story, when linked.

I had a doctor that moved to Canada. She left all her records to the Doctor that took over her patients. You might try and remember if there were any other Doctor's in the office where your Doctor practiced. He may have handed them over to one of them. Also you might check with the hospital he was eligible to practice in. Hope this helps!! Janice B
