Question:
Been trying new vitamins lately and my urine turned to a radioactive yellow color.

Is this normal?    — zimra (posted on August 26, 2008)

It's just the vitamins turnign your urine bright yellow, no worries.

Hi, Zimra. I have always heard that you excrete any excess vitamins, so I think it might be from your vitamins. However, just to be safe, I'd ask if you're drinking enough water. If your urine is a deep yellow color, then you are not getting enough liquid and could be dehydrated. I've been told your urine should be very light yellow or clear to be considered well hydrated. Hope all is well. dana

Not uncommon; especially if you're taking the B-vitamins.

To the best of my knowledge, bright neon yellow urine is due to your vitamins and is harmless. Brownish-dark urine is a sign of dehydration. Reddish urine or urine streaked with blood can be a sign of a urinary tract infection or other disorder.

My urine's been bright yellow ever since surgery, I think it has to do with vitamins. I don't believe it has anything to do with dehydration because I drink at least 80 ozs of water a day and most days it more like 100 ozs.

Sounds like a lot of Vitimun C. Nothing to worry about.

It's your vits...Drink more water and it will get clearer. I drink til my urine is clear and then I know I've flushed out my liver and kidneys of waste. Kinda like rinsing the sink after draining the dishwater!

My chiropractor/nephew put me on some additional magnesium for my chronic back pain... my urine turned a beautiful, nuclear yellow color. I was a little concerned, he said it is completely normal. I know I'm not dehydrated as I drink distilled water all day every day. You're not alone. Dawn
