Question:
CUSINART OR BRAUN HANDHELD MIXER?

Hello, I'm going to buy one of those hand held mixers for protien shakes, pureeing foods, etc. I've looked at the Cuisinart ($40 a little bigger, maybe more power?) and the Braun($20 a little smaller) Has anyone used either of these? I have the Braun, it works great for shakes, I don't know if you plan to use it for any other cooking, I think I've seen at Sam's Club a Braun with other attachments for about 20.00 too.

Kelly, I went out and after surgery bought the Braun (Hand held mixer) it only last for like 4 months, I used mine to mix my shakes, I how-ever used ice and make icees, it makes he shakes more bearable, Well any hoo, the mixer brought and acutally burnt up, I have yet to replace it, I just started using my dependable blender, I know a little less portable but strudy enough to blend my protien shakes into icees Yummy ! Good luck post op 7 1/2 months down 109 pounds

I have used cheapo & spendy. I use it for everything, protein, sauce, gravies, dressings, eggs--anything. Since I tend to stand them up in dishwater for oily or sticky things, well, when they tip over, they can't swim very well. So, the price of the unit didn't matter at all. The ones that lasted the longest were the cheapos, Toastmaster & Rival. LOL! Maybe they swim better?

I think each has its specific pros and cons. I love the Braun hand mixer for pureeing soups out of vegetables and stuff in the pot. I don't really use it for shakes. I had one LONG ago (in they days of Cambridge Diet... remember that one?) and it broke from trying to mix ice. Also, it kind of splashed a lot - even using one of the special tall container things. I have found that the BEST things for shakes is a blender. I have an ANCIET oster (my mom made my baby food in it!) and it is the best. BUT a bit of a pain to clean... so I use one of those tupperware shakers with the little wheel insert to break up solids (of course this won't help with ice).
