Question:
I was not spacific enough about my apnea question

I was diagnosed with sleep apnea and given a c-pap this was in 99' I went for my first consault and a week later they called me and told me I had to see the sleep apnea doctor again. Does anyone know why I would have to take another sleep study when I am sleeping great with my c-pap. thanks for you answers....    — D P. (posted on July 4, 2003)

That setting was figured years ago. They want to make sure the setting is proper today. Things change over time. This is good your surgeon is being careful, thats excellent!

Same thing happened here. I've been on my CPAP since 1999. My physician ordered a repeat study that I completed in May. Come to find out, although I thought that I was sleeping well, I was having numerous apneas again ( I guess this is the correct termonolgy). My pressure was set on 7 and needed to be raised to 11.5 to stop the apnea incidents. This could have caused problems when surgery time came. Take it that you have a conciencious doctor who wants to eradicate any potential problems before surgery so you most likely won't have any major problems during and after surgery. In my opinion, these cautious doctors are what the standard should be.
