Question:
Should I have my thigh lift performed in two seperate surgeries?

I have had my arms, tummy and breasts worked on, and now the biggest and worst part of me needs attention; my legs! The plastic surgeon who performed the other work does not want to do a complete thigh and butt lift at one time. He wants to do the saddle bad (both legs) and the butt one time, and the inner legs, several months later. There are surgeons who will do them at once in Nashville. However, I trust this surgeon, but I don't want to have to take off work more than once this year from work. He explained that the inner leg has a lot of lymphatic drains, and if it becomes infected, I could wind up with permanent lower extremity swelling. I know my surgeon is conservative, he has this reputation. Could anyone offer advice on this subject? I am confused, I want to make sure my many thousands of dollars are well spent, and my health stays in tact! Thanks.    — sheron H. (posted on February 14, 2003)
