Question:
I would like to hear from others that have had Varicose Veins fixed.

I am interested in knowing a ball park figure (cost) on the less evasive procedure of injecting "whatever" into the vein and it drying up. I have gobs .. one cluster on the back of my knee looks like a fist size bruise and has been with me since the early 20's -not obesity related... hereditary. Last month I had a procedure known as EVLT (endovenous laser therapy). It was done in the outpatient radiology dept. of Wake Forest University Baptist Hospital in Winston Salem, NC. It was covered by my insurance (Medcost) because my veins caused me heaviness, pain and ankle swelling. It took about 2-3 hours for the procedure, but it was well worth it. It involved several ultrasounds to show which veins were involved and where they branched from. The doctor then made several "punctures" along the route of the vein that was diseased and injuected a anesthetic solution both for pain and for insulation. He then ran a laser (like used in an angiogram) up through the vein and burned the vein all the way to the end of the diseased area. My veins were so bad that he made small incisions and actually cut out the bad veins. I have pictures that I will be glad to send you. Email me at [email protected]. I do not know the total cost yet, as I have not received the bill from the hospital. I would gladly have it done again. I walked from the hospital that day. I went back to work the next day.
