Question:
I am on Medicaid/Medipass and I cant find a surgeon anywhere in FL.

I have been searching for a surgeon to do my Surgery, but none of them accept Medicaid. I am a mother of 4 almost 400lbs and my primary doctor is telling me I need the surgery but I have to find a doctor on my own because Medicaid in Volusia county doesnt have a doctor that will do it for me. Considering my life is at stake here I need help and I am willing to go anywhere there is a Doctor who says they can do it for me thru Medicaid.    — Melody L. (posted on January 29, 2003)

Im not sure what insurances this Dr takes, but his name is dr. Anthony Fernandez and he is in Tampa. He just started doing them out of Town-n-Country Hospital. It might be worth a try. good luck to you

Hi Melody, I am also on Medipass and just had my surgery 2 weeks ago with Dr Rosenthal with the Cleveland Clinic of Weston, FL, a suburb of Ft Lauderdale. He is a wonderful doctor and so far I've done very well and have lost 45 lbs in 2 weeks!! Their hospital there is like a 5 star hotel, its just gorgeous! Hi, not sure how far you want to travel. I live in Orange Park FL and I am having my surgery (Lap RNY) done by Dr. Peter Henderson in Brunswick GA. He accepts Medicaid.

You may want to try Dr. Wm Todd Overcash in Ocala FL. I have Tricare (military insurance) and he takes that so he may take Medicare. I hope this helps

Try Dr. Samuel Cow, I'm going there Oct.28 he's the only one that except Medicaid/Medipass
