Question:
Idea to improve the site and our resources!

I think I have a good idea for an addition to this site. It's always seemed to me that there really hasn't been enough study on WLS, typical results, etc. One thing I've always wondered is just what percentage of post ops dump, or for how long? I don't dump at all and I suspect the percentage of people who don't is greater than we're told when we inquire about the operation. Anyway, my idea is this: I think it would be great to incorporate a monthly or weekly poll to the site. I'm sure we have the largest study group of WLS patients in the world here! I think doctors often don't see their patients past the first year or two or when they switch insurance policies or move, things like that. They're so busy moving on to their new patients that their data is incomplete for the long term. I just think adding some polls/surveys could be a good way to gather information and could provide some interesting data for all those who are always asking "am I normal"? A lot of people who don't take the time to respond to the question and answer section might take the time to respond to a quick multiple choice poll. All the various sort of "am I normal" questions are always met with a range of answers or are only likely to be answered by those with similar circumstances, but with a more formal poll one could tell if they fit in the "average" range or not. It seems a shame not to accumulate some hard data from all the people we have here!    — sandsonik (posted on April 2, 2004)

Sandra, as a pre-op, I think it would be a great idea. I have gained soooo much info from this site, but to have so many people answer in one place at one time, would be able to give me a new prespective. Good idea.
