Question:
He's gone AWOL, and I don't know what to do...
Any patients of Dr. Free in Corpus Christi, Texas know who we're supposed to see for our post op check ups? I've never had any follow up since surgery six months ago, and I don't really know what to do. I feel awesome, so it's not that I'm worried about any complications. I just feel like I've been abandoned. It's very frustrating, especially after I paid him so much for his services. Any help would be very appreciated. I dont have any answer as to 'who' to see really; BUT as far as aftercare -
you can see your PCP... after your initial 'surgery' release; the MAIN
thing is to monitor your 'blood' and your PCP can certainly do that. There
are lists as to 'what' blood work needs to be done - say if your a DS. For
RNY mine - we check all the major stuff; iron, B12, cholestral levels,
protein levels,, kinda like a yearly 'physical'..
usually time your 6 months post; you dont see the 'surgeon' until one
year... but i found it basically useless.. how you doing etc... the main
thing I concentrate is my lab work now.
It is ALWAYS good practice to have a 'surgeon' just in case something
happens, so if your surgeon 'is gone' look in the area for another.. so at
least you have 'his name'. I moved from one state to another, and as soon
as I got there, already had a 'name' of a doctor in my network incase I
ever needed one.

My surgeon is Dr. Schwesinger in San Antonio. However, I've used my PCP,
Dr Jack Brackin in Rockport, for the majority of my after sugery care,
obviously he is so much closerin proximity. I have Dr. Brackin and Dr.
Schwesinger continually exchange medical records so they are always up to
date and aware of each other's directive. Dr. Brackin referred me to Dr.
Paul Farek (here in Corpus) for my hernia repair last December, and, once
again, the three of them have been wonderful in communicating and
exchanging notes/records and correspondence. It is important to me that
the three of them are on the same level with care and treatment opinions.
Obviously, for me, my WLS Surgeon (Schwesinger in SA) is my expert and I
expect all major decisions and directives to come from him and Dr. Brackin
is marvelous in follow thru, records exchange and communication. If he's
in your network, I highly recommend him for your primary care. Besides, he
needs more WLS Patients ~ he's very supportive and proud of our decisions
and accomplishments.

Dr. Mc Daniel and Dr. Chang in Victoria are who a few have contacted for
follow up. My PCP is in Corpus and he does my blood work. I go for my 6
month visit with Dr. McDaniel on Thurs. If I can be of any help please
e-mail me I can give you Dr. McDaniels 800# if you would like to check with

I found a list of surgeons here that are in CC. The medical center just
started a real program too just recently. I would check them out and leave
