What does malate mean in calcium citrate malate?

Hi. I see you haven't gotten an answer yet. That's an interesting question but unfortuneately I have no idea what the answer is. But you know, I betcha Vitalady knows. Hopefully she'll see the question & answer it for you. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful.

I recently checked www.vitaminshoppe.com and found an article on calcium. According to the article (w/research notes), citrate/malate is the most easily absorbed calcium available. I would like to find a brand that has this type. Tried to search on vitaminshoppe but did not bring up any, but quite a descriptions of brands of calcium on the site only say "calcium."
