Question:
Looking for psychologist in the Long Island/New York area
I am currently working with a psychologist who deals with eating disorders. Things were going well at the beginning. Recently I have discussed the fact that I would like to have this surgery. She has had patients that have had the surgery and they have had problems. She does not agree with the surgery and would rather me not have it. I know she has a right to her opinion, but I feeling we are butting heads at every session. I am getting very upset and would like to see some one else. Maybe I am running away from this, but I look at it like I am the consumer and I am paying for services. Which at this point I am not happy. with. Would anyone have any names of therapists that they use in the Long Island/New York area that you would recommend. Please tell me I am not nuts for feeling this way. Thanks — Lisa N. Check with the surgeon you plan on using for who they recommend. My surgeon
has EVERYONE get approved by the same therapist, who is now very
experienced with getting folks approved and seeing they are knbowledgable
on surgeries risks and rewards.

I have an excellent psychologist in Manhattan who has been a great help to
me. She is experienced with food issues and is pro WLS after dealing with
me. I had a lap DS in Oct. 2001 and have lost 108 lbs. Email me at

Lisa, sweety, i had my surgery with Leitman, Roslin's partner. The
psychologist I used for my evaulation and the one I plan to go to now that
I am post-op to deal with any food issues is Dr. Donna Rivera, she is in
