The very same thing happened to me last night. I ate a few peanuts, they tasted sweet. Nutritional info on package said said Sugar 0grms, so thats why ate them. I fell asleep and woke up with the same feelings you describe. It was awful!! This morning I looked at the peanut package better and in tiny print I found the ingredient list...first was peanuts followed by corn syrup then sugar. I should have spit them out!! Now I know that I am a dumper. Open RNY July 11, 2003 -95 lbs.

Sounds exactly like dumping to me. After about 5 months post, I started eating reduced fat peanutbutter on toast. Not all the time, but occassionally, I get really shaky and sometimes with the bathroom trips. Usually for me, this type of instance happens with the higher fat foods, not necessarily the higher sugar foods.

Shelly, It does sound like it. Here's a good description from Medical-Surgical Nursing, Critical Thinking in Client Care, by P. LeMone and K. Burke, Published by Addison-Wesley, (copyright 1996): When the pylorus (normal point of connection between the stomach and small intestine) has been bypassed, undigested food may rapidly enter the jejunum. Water is pulled into the intestine (from the surrounding blood vessels and tissues) resulting in a decrease in blood volume and intestinal dilation. Peristalsis (the movements of the intestine to propel food further down the tract) is stimulated resulting in nausea, vomiting, epigastric pain, abdominal cramping, gurgling sounds, and diarrhea. Decreased blood volume results in a rapid heart rate, low blood pressure when you go from sitting or lying down to standing up, dizziness, flushing, and breaking out in a sweat. In addition, the entry of this undigested food into the jejunum causes a rapid rise in blood glucose. This stimulates the release of an excessive amount of insulin, leading to hypoglycemic (low blood sugar) symptoms 2-3 hours after the meal. Dumping syndrome is managed primarily by a dietary pattern that delays gastric emptying and allows smaller amounts of undigested food to enter the intestine at one time. Blessings, dina

Yep, you sure did. But both times I've dumped has been from something + milk. Have either or and you should be okay.
