Question:
will my insurance pay for revision if it is not the same insurance that did my wls??

I had my insurance on my husbands plan.. I don't have that anymore and will be getting insurance through my work. I was wondering if they would cover a revision or correction or since they didn't cover the wls, they won't cover that.    — Kim H. (posted on December 9, 2004)

They should. My husband's insurance covered my 'fix' and they were NOT the ones that paid for my original surgery. If its a 'revision' you'll have to 'qualify' but if its a "correction" be sure to tell them its a correction it makes a difference. When I put in for my 'fix' with Aenta they tried at first to get me to submit to the qualification a 'newbie' would go thru, I 'explained' to them it was a fix and NOT a new request or revision... so they looked to see what was what and paid for it - and didnt ask for information that would only be reqired if you were a newbie.

The questions would be: does your existing ins have a clause against WLS? Is there a clause stating you can have only 1 per lifetime? One company covered my original in 1994, another company covered my revision in 2000. In 10 yrs, I had those 2 companies briefly and the entire other time, I had a good ins that won't touch WLS with a 10 ft pole. So, it's about your exact ins, and then their criteria at the time. I had only regained 12# when I was revised. Some ins make you regain the whole 100#. It's very individual. And, as I said, the is most easily available to me will not touch WLS AT ALL, no way, no how, no nothing. If you said I had an ear infection in the same snetence with having had WLS, they'd deny it. But dang, they are really good about everything else.
